settling in

Posted on July 6, 2010

this past week has been full of unpacking, organizing, cleaning, and recuperating - all this moving and travel has lowered my immune system and i came down with a cold over the weekend, which sadly meant no celebrating on the 4th :(  so instead i’ve been curled up on the couch sipping soup with otto and watching some of my favorite films. it hasn’t really felt like summer here in san francisco anyway – the weather has been pretty chilly lately. one thing i really love about my new place is that we have a little backyard! i can’t wait to start buying plants and herbs to turn it into a pleasant little garden!

anemone?

my sister, lena and her family are visiting from japan for the summer. she is in the air force, and has been stationed in okinawa more than ten years so when her and her clan can come back to the states we have a great time. her twin daughters gwen and kirra are eight and a half and her son billy is turning seven in august. in these photos we were playing with this weird ball that looks like a sea sea anemone, but it popped. then the kids thought it would be funny to take photos of it on their heads. photos from my flickr.

salt water

the pool in my backyard is now salt water! i’m so happy because chlorine always irritated by sensitive skin, but now i swim every day. it’s been a pretty hot summer here in palm springs but the pool is refreshing, and now its even better!
